Character: Ideal tour for high mountaineering beginners

At 3,768 m, the Wildspitze is the highest mountain in North Tyrol and the Ötztal Alps. It is the second highest mountain in Austria after the Grossglockner at 3,798 m.

Duration: 3 days

Condition: climbs up to 1000 meters in altitude and 5.5 hours / day. Total walking time of up to 7 hours / day and 1,500 meters in descent.


Technique: Sure-footedness and a head for heights in the pathless, rocky and icy terrain are required for this high-altitude tour. On the way to the Flugkogel we learn all the necessary crampon and ice ax techniques for climbing short firn flanks with a 40° steepness, as well as changing passages with crampons on ice and rock in the 2nd level of difficulty.


Process:

 

    Day 1: We meet at 12:00 p.m. at the church in Vent and go to the Hochjoch hospice together. (Total walking time: approx. 3 hours, ascent: 500 HM)2. Day 1: From the Hochjoch Hospiz, it goes via the Brandenburgerhaus, the highest hut in the Eastern Alps, to the Flugkogel and on to the Vernagthütte. (Total walking time: approx. 6.5 hours, ascent: 1100 HM, descent: 700)3. Day: Early in the morning we set off in the direction of the Wildspitze, leave the rear Brochkogel on our right and climb over the Taschachferner to the summit of the Wildspitze. Depending on the conditions, the descent is either via the Mitterkarjoch or via the Rofenkar to Vent. (Total walking time: approx. 7 hours, descent: 1800 HM)

Additional costs: travel costs, parking fee in Vent (€ 5 per day / car as of 2021), descent lift (€ 8.50 as of 2021), 2 nights in the camp with half board at the Hochjoch Hospice and at the Vernagthütte approx. € 50 ,-- per person / per day.

Is there rental equipment?

* The rental equipment is marked on the equipment list. However, any damage or loss must be charged.

What happens in bad weather?

If the weather forecast is so bad that the tour cannot be carried out, we will cancel the tour and try to find an alternative date. There are no costs from my side.
