From mountain to vocation: This is Ammann's world
Tyrol - Tannheimertal - a dream for individualists. I was born there in 1979 and spent my first thirty years surrounded by the mountains of the Allgäu Alps. That shapes – both my life and my passions. I stood on skis for the first time at the age of three and they are still my companions through the winter, also professionally. Since then, my steps on my way to becoming a mountain and ski guide have led me upwards: to countless peaks in the world and finally to my winter home in Obergurgl in the Ötztal.
From carpenter's apprentice to ski and snowboard instructor...
But first, after school, I took a different path. I decided to do a carpentry apprenticeship, which I successfully completed. At the age of twenty, additional training brought me back to the mountains: I became a ski instructor. Three years later I did a second apprenticeship as a carpenter, while earning my living with my passion for the mountains as an enthusiastic ski and snowboard instructor.
Mountain guide with passion
In 2010, at the age of thirty, I moved to Obergurgl, the paradise for mountain lovers in the upper part of the Ötztal. I remained true to Tyrol and the mountains, but took my professional career on a new track. Since the same year I have been working as a ski instructor in Obergurgl in winter. In the summer since 2012, as a mountain guide, I have been following the call of the mountains in the Tannheimer Valley and the entire Alpine region: This is my world.
