Biancograt Piz Bernina and Piz Palü

The Piz Bernina (4,048 m) is the only four-thousander in the Eastern Alps, one of the most aesthetic firn ridges leads directly to the summit over the Biancograt.

Condition: Ascents up to 1500 meters in altitude and 6 hours/day. Total walking time of up to 10 hours/day and 1200 meters in altitude on the descent.Technique: Surefootedness and a head for heights in the pathless, rocky and icy terrain are required for this high-altitude tour. Mastering the necessary crampon and ice ax techniques for climbing short firn flanks with a 40° steepness, as well as changing passages with crampons on ice and rock in the 3rd difficulty level are an advantage.
Process:
- Day 1: We meet at 12:00 p.m. at the Diavolezzabahn car park, take the train to Pontresina and take the horse-drawn carriage to the Rosegg valley. From there we take the path to the Tschierva Hütte. (Total walking time approx. 2.5 hours, ascent: 600 HM) Day 2: Early in the morning we climb over the magnificent Biancograt to the Piz Bernina (4048 m). The descent takes us over the Spallagrat to the Marco e Rosa Hütte. (Total walking time: approx. 9 hours, ascent: 1500 HM, descent: 450 HM)3. Day: Today we cross the Piz Palü from west to east and descend over the Pergletscher to Diavolezza and take the train back to the valley. (Total walking time: approx. 6.5 hours, ascent: 650 m, descent: 1200 m)
